Looking back on this blog there are loads of various mistakes, thanks to a combination of my bad typing and predictive text set on the e-mail function on my phone ( it got rain and pain confused amongst other things,

Day 10, 3rd August 2009 the journey home

Day 10 and a little bit of Day 9 as well...

On sunday Evening Tor inger invited the leaders out to a meal at a restaurant in Stavanger, leaving the older Explorees and some of the older Scouts in charge back at the Scout hut, equiped with a phone to call us if there were any problems.
When we returned to madla Scout hut there was a presentaition eving where the neckercheifs were poresented ot those Scouts who hadnt camped with madla before, then it was time to do a bit of cleaning up, before bed time.

Video walkthrough of madla Scout HQ where we spent the last few days.

On Monday morning we awoke a little bit earlier in order to make sure that everything would be packed up, we had the usual 'continental style' breakfast, then the big clean up began, The Scout hut was soon cleared, all the bags were packed and taken outside the front door then it was time to leave

There was enough time for a quick group phot before all the bags were loaded into cars and onto a trailer then it was off to the airport at Stavanger to begin our journey to Birmingham airport, via Schippol, and eventually home

We were soon at Sola Airport, Stavanger unloading outside, and getting ready to board the plane to Amsterdam

Boarding the aircraft

We were soon on your way to Amsterdam, where after a hike through the airport from one gate to another we finaly made it to the departure gate
Clearing customs / passport control in Holland
A short wait at Gate D44
On the plane from Holland ( Schippol) to the UK ( Birmingham)

Once back in the UK there was time for another group photo, then we went our separate ways back to our Scout huts at melbourne and Eccleshall.

Sunday 2nd August

A quick update on todays activitys..

today we went on a boat trip to a nearby island which invloved a walk through the outter parts of stavanager to where the rover scouts keep their boats, the scouts had the opportunity to explore, it started out dry and warm, however during our stay on the island the clouds rolled in and it started to rain, after that it was a short walk to the madla swords, where we stopped for a short while, then a walk back to the Scout hut where some of the Scouts played cards and relaxed in the lower floor.
We are due to deaprt for home tommorow, and hopfeuly by now the Scouts should have most of thier stuff packed for the journey home via schippol, you should be able to keep track of the incoming flight at the birmingham airport website flight number KL1429 coming in from amsterdam

Not many photos of upstairs yet, but there should be some more later, again there is another meeting room, as before it is equiped with a high definition video projector, as well as a balcony outside, and a wood burning stove against the wall, it also currently features from time to time a snøring dave.

Heres a few pictures from inside madla Scout hut, our current location.

Lower floor:

The lower floor has a meeting room equipend with a full light and sound/disco set up
At the back of this room there is a bouldering wall, with crash mats ( that should be neatly stacked against the wall ) it is also equiped with a high definition video projector, mounted to the roof, agains the other wall is a framed take away menu for a local pizza shop

Coridoor leading outside to a door to the left and to the stairs up on the right, turn left and your at the back
The back of the scout hut features a climbing/abseiling wall that goes upwards above the roofline of the building
Their equipment store is larger than the scout hut in melbourne, and contains a huge amount of camping gear, a rigid inflatable 'speed' boat, wind sufing gear, sailing gear, skiiing gear and much more
to the side theres also a sheltered campfire circle area

Pioneering poles ready for use are stored to the side of the main building.
